Former Singapore singer Stella Ng has denied that she is bankrupt after being sued by Singapore chocolate cake firm Awfully Chocolate.

News of Ng’s pending lawsuit with Awfully Chocolate broke in May this year and the ex- singer was said to owe the cake firm S$249,000.

Speaking to reporters during the second anniversary of her cake shop, Black as Chocolate, in Taiwan, which she created after her “Awfully Chocolate” franchise license was terminated in July 2007, Ng said the allegations against her were unjustified.

When the franchise license was terminated, Awfully Chocolate sued Ng’s company both in Taiwan and Singapore, for violating terms in the franchise agreement. The 28-year-old was ordered to pay S$249,000 as the guarantor of her company.

Due to Ng’s delay in payment, she was reportedly declared bankrupt by the Singapore High Court, though the singer firmly denies this.
