of man sues video game manufacturer for video game addiction

Video Game Addiction Lawsuit Can Proceed: Craig Smallwood is addicted to the rrole-playing game "Lineage II" and he wants to sue the game manufacturer.
A federal judge has ruled that a man who says he's psychologically dependent and addicted to an online video game can proceed with some of his lawsuit against the game's South Korean manufacturer.

Craig Smallwood says "Lineage II" left him unable to function independently in daily activities, such as getting dressed, bathing or communicating with family and friends.

Smallwood says he's spent more than 20,000 hours playing the multiplayer online role-playing game since 2004. The 51-year-old says NCSoft Corp. never warned him about the danger of game addiction.

of police nsman abdillah zamzuri taken in for questioning

NSman grilled over blog: Mr Abdillah Zamzuri, a Police NSMan, was arrested over comments he made on his blog on the handcuffing of photojournalist, Shafie Goh. This was the second arrest following the arrest of Mr Abdul Malik Mohammed Ghazali on Tuesday over comments on social networking site Facebook.
AN NSman with the Singapore Police Force has been called up for questioning by his reservist unit over comments he made on his blog on the handcuffing of a photojournalist in July.

Temasek Review, an online blog site, said Mr Abdillah Zamzuri, 26, disagreed with how the police handled the cuffing of Lianhe Wanbao photojournalist Shafie Goh, which took place during a flash flood on July 16. He also said that the officer 'acted stupidly' and that they should be sued.

Mr Abdillah received a call from an investigating officer from his reservist unit a week after his July 19 blog to have his statement taken.

The charge, according to Mr Abdillah, is for 'prejudice to the conduct of good order or discipline', said Temasek Review.
In his blog, Mr Abdillah commented,
As someone who still reports for reservist duty as a Police Officer, I am well aware of the Penal Code and Statutes that governs and dictates what a Police Officer can and cannot do.

Whilst there are many things that a Police Officer can do whereby he is empowered to do so having satisfied himself beyond reasonable doubt that a crime has been committed, there are also instances whereby Police Officers are strongly encouraged to exercise discretion in their line of duty.

Singapore company bars management from local casinos
A Singapore company has banned its management from the country's two new casinos following reports a local businessman lost a fortune at the gaming tables, its founder said Friday.

Mohamed Salleh, chief executive officer of retail and property firm Second Chance, said he had applied for casino exclusion orders for himself and six of his top personnel using a system designed to keep gambling addicts out.

Media reports said Quek, a local seafood industry magnate, had squadered the amount over a three-day gambling spree at the Resorts World Sentosa casino.

Mohamed said his decision was also prompted by a case in which one of his managers stole gold items from the firm to pay off gambling debts before the local casinos opened the doors.
Mr Mohamed Salleh said,
A few days ago I read about this Henry Quek... that lost 26 million (19.2 million US) dollars at this casino, so I was thinking, why not I include all my top executives and my finance people?

Slovakia Aims to Be Singapore of Europe by Cutting Bureaucracy After Fico
Slovak Economy Minister Juraj Miskov plans to eliminate red tape and relax labor laws as the former advertising executive seeks to attract investors to what he says can be the Singapore of eastern Europe.

Slovakia, which prospered by luring carmakers to the country, became less attractive to investors as former Prime Minister Robert Fico increased the state’s role in the economy, Miskov said Aug. 25 at his office in the capital, Bratislava.

Singapore is the easiest country to do business in, according to 2010 rankings by the World Bank. Slovakia, which adopted the euro in 2009, slipped seven places to 42nd as Fico increased regulation and made it more difficult to fire workers.
