Hollywood star Farrah Fawcett has lost her battle with cancer after fighting the disease for three years.
The actor, most famous for her role on the 1970s TV show Charlie's Angels, was given her last rites by a priest in hospital on Wednesday.
Fawcett played private investigator Jill Munroe in the Charlie's Angels series and went on to appear on Broadway and telemovies.
Her movie roles include The Cannonball Run, Man of the House and Nazi Hunter: The Beate Klarsfeld Story.
Her long-time companion Ryan O'Neal spent most of his time of late with Fawcett, recently telling US reporter Barbara Walters that he asked her to marry him.
