Orchard among many areas in Singapore flooded: Orchard Road was submerged in floodwaters after a heavy morning downpour on Wednesday.


HEAVY rainfall on Wednesday morning caused many parts of central Singapore to be flooded. Large stretches of Evans, Stevens and Bukit Timah Road were affected, according to an online Straits Times report. Traffic was impassable at some parts of Stevens and Evans Road as floodwaters went as high as half a metre, the report said. It also mentioned that shopfronts at Serene Centre, Bukit Timah, were affected. According to a statement released by the Public Utilities Board (PUB), almost 100 mm of rain fell between 9am and 11am, approximately 60 per cent more than the average monthly rainfall in June.
