of no internet = no life

I'm back from overseas reservist training. One of the toughest I've experienced (could be old age catching up). And I lost count of the number of days I was deprived of the internet.

Will try to update this blog soon.

I said "yes" and he responded "Yippee!"

of i need to be careful what music i play

lancerlady and I thinks that lancerlad has some musical talent (don't know where he got it from). He is learning lyrics fast. He just listens to the music played during the car ride home from school and is able to remember some of the lyrics.

He can even sing to himself when he goes to bed. One night he started singing the chorus to Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girl". He can go "Your way to beautiful girl...mumbles mumbles mumbles...suicidal, suicidal".

Now I am removing songs like Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" and Green Day's "American Idiot" from my playlist. Just need to be careful what music I play in the car, especially when the kids are around.

of i got cursed today

lancerlady saw me switch on the computer and she said "Computer again!...I put a curse on you...Curse your computer will hang."

"No computer cannot fix your Flickr account.", I said.

"You fix my account first then your computer hang indefinitely.", she replied.

So far so good. Computer still running. :)

of lancerlad learning mandarin

lancerlad is learning shapes in his mandarin classes in school.

He was doing his homework and asked me what is circle called in Chinese.

"圆圈", I answered.

"Wrong. I show you how to write.", he replied.

And he wrote "圆形".

of what is your address?

lancerlad is learning the address of where he is staying.

He is able to remember the block number, the floor and unit number.
But he still could not get the name of the road correct.

lancerlord: Can you still remember your address?...
* lancerlad nods *
lancerlord: ...What is the name of road?
lancerlad: Hmmm.....Orchard Road?

Ya, how i wish boy...how I wish.

Must be the McDonald's commercial that made him say that.

of no outside food allowed

We had planned to celebrate lancerkid's birthday at Swensen's. Few days ago, we ordered a cake from Bengawan Solo and informed our family members of the time and place where the birthday party will be held.

At the entrance, one of the staff saw the cake we were holding and told us that we were not allowed to bring outside food because Swensen's is Halal. When we told the staff that the cake we had bought is Halal (so we thought), the staff still insisted no outside food was allowed.

No choice, we looked for other places to have the birthday party.

of i'm not dead

Ok ok...I know I didn't update for a long time.

I'm still here. Still alive and kicking. So I'm not dead yet.

And no...i did not take a long time to get my hard disk replaced.
Just that I've been busy lately with work and I've also been wasting time playing with this.

of noisy harddisk

My hard disk is going to die soon. Something inside is stuck and it is making clicking noise. Most times it refuses to boot up.

I need to get a new hard disk.

Better switch off the compooter now before the hard disk really dies.

of kor kor give you sweet

Lancerlad knows how to bribe Lancerkid.

After drinking his milk, Lancerlad passed his milk bottle to his little brother and told him to put it in the sink.

Lancerlad: Lancerkid, put in the sink. Kor kor give you sweet ah. OK?
Lancerkid: K!

And Lancerkid happily took the bottle off his brother's hands, runs to the sink and dumps the bottle into the sink.

of forgot that I parked...

Yesterday morning, I decided to park my car for a minute or two at the loading bay while I popped into the provision shop to get some stuff. After buying the stuff, I happily walked home.

I only remembered about the 'abandoned' car when I took Lancerkid for a walk in the evening. From a distant, I looked at the car and thought to myself, "Hmm, some goondu has the same car as mine".

You should look at my goondu face when I walked past the car just to see the familiar license number.

Next time if I park at the loading bay, maybe I should remember to take a photo in case I lose my car.

of mai hiam

When I was ordering wanton noodles at the coffeeshop, Lancerkid heard me saying 面 ('mian') and he repeated "面面". He should know what I was ordering since we also speak some Mandarin to him.

When I told the lady not to put chilli ('mai hiam') in Hokkien. Lancerkid turned to me and said "Huh?". He knows that it is a different language.

of enough

I was 'educating' Lancerlad to speak up more often.

Sometimes he is just too lazy to speak up. Only nods or shakes his head or waits for us to 'help' him to answer.

Lancerlord: Lancerlad, learn to speak more ok?
*Lancerlad nods head*

Lancerlord: Don't just nod or shake your head. Say 'Yes' or 'No'.
Lancerlad: Ok.
Lancerlord: Learn to speak up.
Lancerlad: Ok.
Lancerlord: Speak louder so that people can hear you.
I nagged for a few minutes and finally Lancerlad raises his hand just like what his school teaches. Shows me his palm.
Lancerlad: Daddy, Daddy. Enough. Enough.

I left him alone to watch the tele.
