Missing man found dead: Choong Khuat Hock, a prominent financial analyst and son of a prominent Penang businessman Datuk Freddie Choong, was found dead in Bentong, Pahang.

A prominent financial analyst and son of a prominent Penang businessman has been found dead in Bentong, Pahang, after being reported missing for a week.

Choong Khuat Hock (pic), 49, who was also a columnist for The Star, is believed to have been murdered and his body dumped in a drain near an oil palm plantation.

His decomposed body was found by a police patrol unit at about 4.30pm on Saturday.

His body was identified by his father Datuk Freddie Choong and a maid at the Temerloh Hospital mortuary at about 11am yesterday through his clothing, physical structure and dental records.
Police said today they have ruled out business rivalry and kidnapping as the motive behind the murder of prominent financial analyst Choong Khuat Hock.
