of taiwan-born jason wu, designs first lady michelle obama's inaugural gown

First Lady Michelle Obama's inaugural gown by Taiwan-born designer Jason Wu. Who?: Meet Jason Wu, who designed First Lady Michelle Obama's white gown. Jason has made a name for himself dressing living dolls like Ivanka Trump, Lisa Cant, and Amber Valletta. With the First Lady's inaugural gown under his belt, Jason joins great American designers like James Galanos and Oscar de la Renta to have this very rare distinction.

Who is Jason Wu, the designer of First Lady Michelle Obama's stunning Grecian-style white gown? He's a Taiwan-born, Manhattan-based young designer who got his start crafting couture creations for toy dolls. No shock he's now dressing bigger dolls like Ivanka Trump, Lisa Cant, and supermodel Amber Valletta with his line started in 2006. He recently won the Fashion Group International's Rising Star award. His hourglass gowns mix old Hollywood glamour with youthful kicky ease, perfect for proms or, as it turns out, historic presidential inaugural balls. It's not a shock that she chose him. She wore one of his Spring '09 creations for her interview with Barbara Walters.
