Cops say they believe that Schrenker bailed out of his single engine plane, parachuted to safety in Alabama and left his plane on auto-pilot until it crashed in Florida on Sunday. Schrenker's neighbor, Tom Britt, said he got an e-mail from Marcus saying the crash was an accident.Schrenker said,
I embarrassed my family for the last time. By the time you read this I'll be gone.In the e-mail, Schrenker asks Britt to set the record straight and says he's stunned after reading coverage of the case on the Internet. Investigators say the e-mails seem legit, and they are currently looking for Mr. Schrenker. A warrent has been issued for his arrest. Court papers also show that Schrenker's wife, Michelle, recently filed for divorce. His home was also searched as a part of the investigations, and Schrenker even missed one of his recent trials.
