of even better than the real thing

[via Smash]

Improv Everywhere is at it again. For those who don't know what Improv Everywhere is.
Improv Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has excecuted over 40 missions involving over 100 undercover agents. The group is based in New York City.
This time they staged a massive U2 concert hoax on a rooftop. It created a scene. That's why their motto is "We Cause Scenes".

Read their report and watch the video here and here.

of no time

I had been busy the whole of last week and things don't look any better this week and weeks to come. Quite chaotic with multiple project deadlines to meet and several meetings to attend.

When you are fighting for more time, but yet your time is eaten up by attending meetings day in and day out. Unfortunately my team is a small one. Just 2 persons handling a total of 8 projects.

No time! But then still can blog about this. Something must be wrong with me!

While at the shopping mall, Lancerlady and I noticed Lancerlad fiddling with his fingers in front of a row of magazines. This was what he was doing.

He was pushing his fingers in place, mimicking Sylvester's rocker hand sign. After a few tries, he was able to master it. Then he went around the shopping mall with fingers in both hands locked in that position.

Then when we were home watching Korn perform over at MTV and the rockers were waving the sign, Lancerlad also followed them. And during another show, when the host said "Oh my!", Lancerlad said "Oh my God!". Lancerlady and I only shook our heads and laughed.

of terh terh

When you have been on a 5-day work week routine for almost a year. Then when suddenly you need to switch to a 6-day work week, you'll forget that today's Sunday.

That was what happened to me. Just now, I drove to the AAS Centre at River Valley to renew my car Road Tax. Parked my car, headed for the entrance, had dificulty opening the damn door. Then a lady sitting nearby said, "Sunday not open." So I terh terh drive back again.

Wet start to Mother's Day. Drive safely. Witnessed a lot of fallen tree branches along the road.

of mother's day

I remembered the times when you raised your voice whenever I was disobedient.
I remembered the times when you would rush to pick me up from school after work.
I remembered the times when you chauffered me around.
I remembered food was always on the table whenever I got hungry.
I remembered the moments we spent together.
I remembered seeing you lying on the floor, motionless.
I remembered your cold hands when I lifted them.
I remembered the newspaper that you didn't get to read.

I have not said a single "I Love You" to you in all my life.
I remember you in my heart.

I love you, mum. Happy Mother's Day.

of when my fingers walked too fast

Using the T9 dictionary function during SMS is convenient. However it can be quite embarassing as I experience yesterday.

I had wanted to type "Can sms me....?". So I should be pressing 7 on the keypad, then 6 and followed by 7 for the word "sms". Instead, I pressed 7,6,7 and then an extra 6. So I sent "can porn me...." instead. I noticed the mistake but my thumb pressed on the sent button. Too late! That was sent to my boss. Someone whom I seldom SMS and who dictates the amount of performance bonus I get each year. That was embarassing.

This was just one of my many incidents of carelessness when sending SMSes. There are also numerous times I send sms to my wife which should be sent to my colleagues instead. I SMS Lancerlady frequently that simi sai also send to her.

of hand-foot-mouth disease part 2

Some updates on Lancerlad and Lancerkid's condition. Lancerlad looks alright now. He contracted Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease on Wednesday. Now he is back to his usual self. Lancerkid(he contracted it from his brother on Saturday) has also got better. His rashes has cleared up alot.

This just in: HFMD cases more than doubled in first 4 months of 2005.

Lancerlady and I are praying that the Ministry will not shutdown the child care centers again. Don't get me wrong. It's a good idea to shutdown the centers to contain the spread and to decontaminate the place. But both of us are working and we are unable to take leave to look after the kids. We are now both scratching our heads to find alternative plans if Ministry decides to do so.

of sit and listen to win prize

I got a letter on Saturday. It's a letter from a company to inform me that I am guaranteed to win some prize. The photo below is a snapshot of the letter. I've blurred the Company's name. To that company, "Sorry, no free advertisement in my blog".

Prizes listed include a Toyota Corolla, 42" Plasma TV, Notebook and an Eleganet Diamond Watch. It even listed a few names of people invited to receive one of the prizes, my name included.

But what's funny is that the top right hand corner of the letter says "3rd and Final Notice". I remembered I received the first letter which should be in some recycled bin or in some incinerator somewhere by now. But where's the 2nd notice? Nevermind that. I don't care.

Well there must be some catch right? I turned over the letter over and it showed the Terms and Conditions. Terms that will scare you. Here are some of them:
- Participants must arrive with their spouse or parnter, without children, friends or relatives, and take part in an approximately 2 hours introduction at the sponsoring company's office.
- Winners of the big awards agree to have their names and picures use in our public relations and advertisements.
- Recipients of the plasma tv will be required to pay $49 for shipping, handling and insurance.
- Recipients of the world vcation will be required to pay...
- Recipients of the $1000 lfights voucher will be required to pay...
- Recipients of the note book will be required to pay...
- Recipients of the elegant diamond watch will be required to pay...
- Recipients of the digital camera will be required to pay...

Well it says "We would like to confirm that the introduction does not feature timeshare holidays or point's holidays..."

Sigh...now I get all these in my mailbox.

of taking a ride in a cab

I took a cab this morning and I encountered this cabbie. Don't know to call him wierd or cool. As I entered the cab, he was wearing these huge black sunglasses just like the ones Mark Gor(Chow Yun Fatt) wore in A Better Tomorrow. Upon closing the door, he told me, in his soft and gentle voice, to put on my seat belt. Well that's required by the law. So I happily put on the seatbelt.

A few minutes into the journey, the cabbie started to play Gospel music. So here we have a cool and holy cabbie. Then I noticed that his Nokia 6680 has a cross dangling to it. OK, so not only is he cool and holy. He's also a hip cabbie.

But what scares me was his driving. I think he pays double the Road Tax compared to other taxi drivers. He didn't keep to his lane but he straddled in between 2 lanes! Imagine a taxi, occupying 2 lanes for parts along AYE. Now and then I could hear cars at the rear and by the sides honking at the cab. They would drive past and stare at the cabbie. Some drivers that drove past showed "What the coo-coo is going on?" face. Some showed angry faces. One even showed some finger at the cabbie. But the cool and calm cabbie just waved and gestured at them. Cool and relax.

But what's not cool was that he 'forced' his way in front of cars. And when he got honked, he would gladly bring out his left hand and waved to the cars behind as a gesture of apology. Scared the shit out of me!

Playing Gospel music was like sending me to my grave. Now I know why he instructed me to wear my seat belt.

This was one of my many interesting experiences with cabbies. I'm sure many of us have encounters(good or bad) with cabbies.

of die die must comment

[via Forever Geek]
A WEST NYACK, N.Y. MAN was found dead at his computer apparently the victim of trying to keep up with too many professional forums. Childress H. Wanamaker, 54, an account executive at a New York-based new media company, died of starvation according to the West Nyack coroner's office. Wanamaker's emaciated body was found by Loraine, his wife of 26 years, who told MediaPost she had been bringing her husband meals on plastic trays for weeks, but that he never took the time to eat them.

of linkedua toll up ah!

I just came back from Johor Bahru after sending my in-laws to Senai Airport. Used the Second Link. Upon reaching the first toll booth (the one after the Malaysian customs), I found out that the toll charges have increased as of today. It used to be RM$6.60. Now it costs RM$8.40. I haven't been reading the papers, so I wasn't aware of this hike. The second toll booth costed another RM$3.10. Up from the usual RM$2.40.

While on the way back from Senai, I was given this slip at the last toll booth before reaching the Malaysian customs. It's a slip to inform motorists of the increase in charges. Sigh...what useless information. A case of "Didn't say we didn't inform you of the increase hor"?
