of malaysian man killed for hogging karaoke microphone

Fight over microphone ends in man’s death: Abdul Sani Doli, a 23-year-old man from Sandakan, was stabbed to death by customers who were angry because he hogged the microphone during a karaoke session.
Abdul Sani Doli was stabbed by customers at a coffeeshop-cum-karaoke outlet at Lebuh Tiga road on Wednesday night when a fight broke out after he refused to give up the microphone and continued singing.

The exchange of blows continued into the street where one of three assailants stabbed him. Abdul Sani staggered a short distance before collapsing in front of a machinery shop. He died at 11.55pm.
The New York Times and The Guardian also carried the news with headlines "Karaoke Killing" and "Malaysian Man Killed for Hogging Karaoke Micrphone".

The Guardian quoted
Karaoke rage is not unheard of in Asia. There have been several reported cases of singers being assaulted, shot or stabbed mid-performance, usually over how songs are sung.

Frank Sinatra's My Way has reportedly generated such outbursts of hostility that some bars in the Philippines now no longer offer it on the karaoke menu. In Thailand this year, a gunman shot eight people dead after tiring of their endless renditions of a John Denver tune.
