The killings of U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki and another American al-Qaida propagandist in a U.S. airstrike Friday wipe out the decisive factor that made the terrorist group's Yemen branch the most dangerous threat to the United States: its reach into the West.
Issuing English-language sermons on jihad on the Internet from his hideouts in Yemen's mountains, al-Awlaki drew Muslim recruits like the young Nigerian who tried to bring down a U.S. jet on Christmas and the Pakistani-American behind the botched car bombing in New York City's Times Square.
Friday's drone attack was believed to be the first instance in which a U.S. citizen was tracked and killed based on secret intelligence and the president's say-so. Al-Awlaki was placed on the CIA "kill or capture" list by the Obama administration in April 2010 – the first American to be so targeted.
The other American killed in the strike, Samir Khan, published a slick English-language Web magazine, "Inspire," that spouted al-Qaida's anti-Western ideology and even offered how-to articles on terrorism – including one titled, "Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom."

On Monday evening, Joshua had paid a visit to the home of his girlfriend's elder sister, located at Holland Road. Just as he was stepping in, he was loudly scolded by the sister's husband. The man is none other than Gerald Teo. According to Joshua, Teo began to accuse him of illegal trespass and policemen were already present at the scene.
Joshua was filled with bewilderment at the sudden turn of events.
"My girlfriend's sister had given us permission to visit, but her husband started to scold me instead. I backed off and he continued to accuse me of harassing him," Joshua said.
Joshua added that Teo then began to accuse him of possessing drugs and asked the policemen for the number to the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) to report on Joshua.

Brendan Smith is comparable to Ndamukong Suh in the sense that he's just bigger and better than you. You can't hold it against the guy. He's trying to solidify a starting spot, and he should go all out every opportunity he gets. Brendan Smith will be the face of this franchise some day, mark my words.

As we previously reported, Leisha Hailey went on a Twitter rampage hours ago -- claiming a flight attendant booted her and her GF for kissing on the plane ... because SW is a "family" airline.
Now, SWA has released a statement ... explaining, "Initial reports indicate that we received several passenger complaints characterizing the behavior as excessive."
The statement continues, "Our crew, responsible for the comfort of all Customers on board, approached the passengers based solely on behavior and not gender. The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight."
Still, SWA notes, "We are ready to work directly with the passengers involved to offer our heartfelt apologies for falling short of their expectation."
