
THE roof of former convent building Chijmes collapsed on Sunday morning when a Malaysian-registered car crashed into it. According to the police, a taxi and a car were involved in the collision that resulted in the car crashing into a pillar at the historical Chijmes. A portion of the roof collapsed and police have cordoned off the area.
A spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force said they received a call at 11.14am. No passers-by were injured but a Chinese male, 60, was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital for knee abrasions.
Police are currently investigating the accident.
