Spartan Football: An Update from Training Camp/Practice

With the season approaching quickly for the MSU Spartan football team, much of the hopes and aspiration from Spartan faithful are resting on the off-season preparation and what is happening currently in pre-season practices. As a die-hard State fan myself, I have read much literature on the team and individual players and the progress they are making in getting themselves ready for the start of the 2011 season. These are the updates that I have gathered thus far:

Offensive Line: With 3 different spots opened up in the O-line, you have to expect an immense amount of competition for those open spots...and that is exactly what is going on. However, recently there has been some separation between guys competing to work side by side with anchor Joel Foreman on the line. Junior right guard Chris McDonald has been one of those players particularly standing out in this pre-season. Offensive coordinator Dan Roushar stated in reference to McDonald's play, "He's playing as well as we've seen him play". In addition, defensive lineman Dan France has converted to offensive line during this off-season and is starting to rise above the competition for starting left tackle. Redshirt freshman Travis Jackson is expected to earn the starting spot at center.

Wide receivers/tight ends: With B.J. Cunningham, Keshawn Martin, and Keith Nichol all returning at the receiver slots, it's going to make the Spartan air-attack a force to be reckoned with. Not to mention, the weapons available at tight end. Offensive coordinator Dan Roushar stated the competition at the tight end position is a "good problem" and that "We have three starters at that position right now, in Celek, Linthicum, and Dion".

Linebackers: An overall younger defense in comparison to the 2010 Spartan team, the linebackers follow similar suit. Replacing a tandem such as Greg Jones/Eric Gordon along with Eric Misch is huge assignment; however, there is a lot of potential when looking at this position battle. Sophomore Max Bullough is projected to start along with junior Chris Norman; however, Norman has been held out of practice due to an undisclosed upper body injury. Those also in the mix for starting positions are Steve Gardiner, TyQuan Hammock, and Denicos Allen. True freshman linebacker Taiwan Jones has also been making noise in pre-season camp and could see some time this season.

Running backs: Edwin Baker, LeVeon Bell, Larry Caper--what more needs to be said.

Secondary: Experienced, healthy, athleticism, and depth are the top factors working for the Spartans when looking at the secondary. Johnny Adams, Trenton Robinson, Darqueze Dennard, and Isaiah Lewis are all expected to see a significant amount of time on the field and lead the Spartan defense to match or better its 17 interceptions from last season. Redshirt freshman cornerback/wide receiver Tony Lippett is feeling more comfortable and also building his resume for a starting position on the defensive side of the ball. Lippett recently picked off a pass from Maxwell and practice and returned it for a pick-six. According to coaches, Lippett could be the next star in the making for the Spartan football team and could make a difference both on the defense and offensive side of the ball this season.

Offensive coordinator Dan Roushar: Don Treadwell moved on to a head coaching position at Miami and Dan Roushar is taking reigns as the new offensive coordinator. Not much will change offensively, MSU will still be MSU. Roushar stated that he wants the Spartans to be a "quarterback friendly" offense. "What we want to do is get a high completion percentage. Move the football on early downs and keep the chains short", Roushar stated.

For those Spartan faithful, we have much potential for another amazing season. Progress is being made in the off-season and we find ourselves only 15 days until opening night. Go Green!

Why the Spartans will Overcome Doubters in 2011

With the Spartan football season under a month away, I can personally feel a positive buzz in the air, an excitement in my heart, and with no surprise, a belittling attitude coming from the large number of critics that surround me. And, in their defense, I cannot blame them as our program has seen its share of ups and downs in the previous few years. From beating in-state rival Michigan Wolverines 3 consecutive years to being defeated by the Chippewas of Central Michigan, we've seen just about everything. Now, with another season looming in the near future, we hear the doubts once again from fans, critics, analysts, etc. However, the Spartans have enough pieces and potential to once again prove critics wrong in 2011.

The #1 uncertainty going into this season could be one of the team's strong suits if history repeats itself: the offensive line. Anchored by all-Big Ten left guard Joel Foreman, the line needs to fill in 3 important spots on the starting lineup. For many, this is considered a problem. For the Spartans, this is just another task to check off the to-do list as they had this same "issue" going into last season. Look what happened with that inexperienced, young offensive line. They played a large role in forming the team into one of the better rushing teams in the country.

In thinking back a year, you may remember the "log-jam" of personnel in the backfield. Larry Caper led the coalition of tailbacks; however, an injury shot him down the depth chart. Then, Edwin Baker came out of nowhere as the Spartan "back-up running back" to emerge as one of the elite running backs in the conference and in the country. Not to mention, Le'Veon Bell gave the squad a big bruiser to compliment Baker's fluent running style. Now, with Larry Caper back to 100% healthy and with Bell and Baker returning, this 3-headed monster at tailback will give opposing defenses a nightmare to deal with.

The Spartans return a strong defensive line headed by Jerel Worthy, a very talented junior tackle whom many believe will be a first round draft pick in the NFL draft after this season. The linebackers are young as they are filling the void of Greg Jones and Eric Gordon; however, a nice mixture of experience and talent will be filling those responsibilities. The secondary is led by junior cornerback Johnny Adams and senior free safety Trenton Robinson, the Spartans' leading returning tackler.

Last but not least, the Spartans have a very experienced quarterback returning in Kirk Cousins. He has played in the big games, he knows how to win, and he wants to make this team the best team the school has put on the football field. With a number of different weapons to work with (Cunningham, Martin, Nichol, Linthicum, Celek, Lippett, Fowler, and Sims), Cousins should put up some impressive numbers this season and lead a talented team to a very special season.

With all these factors working together, critics will be scratching their heads again wondering how the Spartans keep winning games. It's about time to realize that this team is going to be a special one and they will surely overcome the doubters once again. Go Green!

I'll say this: If I expected any Big 10 school to be on this list, I would've guessed Ohio State. Although I think GQ took snobbery and trust fund babies into account on this list, and we all know Ohio is povert as shit.
With that said, my only encounter with a PSU student was in college when my roommate's boy stayed with us. Kid was obnoxious drunk by 6am, which is welcomed, but the guy went for 24 hours straight just wil'in out. He ended up goin to our rival frat's house and throwing a beer mug right through the main window. A little over the top to say the least. A real doucher move. They still rep their teams like they're relevant. Let's be honest your program is mediocre on a good day and football will not be respectable in Happy Valley as long as the corpse of JoePa is done meandering the sidelines. It's just a novelty at this point, Joe. Everyone knows you have nothing to do with the decision making anymore because if you did, your team would be making a title bid year in and year out. Let it go, coach.

To Return, or Not to Return: The Journey of Brett Favre

With another NFL season right around the corner (assuming the Players Association ratify the lock-out agreement), many questions need to be asked. What will happen with the large number of free-agents looking for a new team? How well will the players be prepared for the season following the five-month lock-out? And, a question that's been asked many times before...is Brett Favre going to be suited up for another year?

After years of flirting with retirement, rumor has it that he will once again suit up to play another season. Favre is looking to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, but this time as a back-up quarterback. This is the same man who has started nearly every single game he has been apart of. In my humble opinion, there's no way Favre would willingly sign with a team as a back-up quarterback. Does this mean he is trying to compete with Michael Vick for the starting position?

In no way am I trying to disrespect the 41 year-old professional athlete, but come on, make up your dang mind. We've been hearing this same story before each season year after year. When will it end? When he's 45? When he's 50? He's already broken many passing records in the NFL-I think he's going for oldest NFL player of all-time at a rugged age of 74.

According to Favre, the chances are slim that he will again return this season. Favre stated himself that another return is just "speculation" and that "I don't want to put my body through that anymore, I've been beat up enough". This eases the thought in my mind of seeing another return to the NFL; however, he's been saying this same thing for years.

You have to admire his perseverance and love for the game, but is enough is enough. He's had a great career, he's broken a number of records, and he's proven that you can play professionally after you're "over the hill". There's nothing left for Favre to prove. Unfortunately, his indecisiveness and old age has almost become a mockery throughout the fans and the league. Referees help him up after getting sacked, players have referred to him as "dad" or "grandpa", and companies are using him for some humorous advertisement--

So, whether Favre returns or not this season, we have to respect his decision...it's a golden rule to live by now days--we must respect our elders.

Spartans to Wear New Look Against the Wolverines

The Michigan State football team will boast a new look on October 15th when they play host to the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans, along with eight other collegiate teams throughout the country, will wear alternate jerseys designed by Nike for one game this season. Those eight other teams include Stanford, Oregon, Ohio State, Navy, Louisiana State, Boise State, Army, and Georgia. The designs are to be released in early September and "capture each team's unique character", according to Nike. Nike stated that these "Pro Combat" uniforms are also technologically advanced as the "redesigned base layer facilitates the uniform's overall innovation, delivering the ultimate in lightweight protection for maximum speed". Michigan State says that "Nike has done a remarkable job of creating a uniform that clearly speaks to the Spartan football tradition with a modern-day look and feel" and that they are "looking forward to representing Michigan State and Nike on October 15 against Michigan".

Top 5 Most Exciting NFL Games in 2011-2012

With the negotiations close to being resolved in the five-month old NFL lock-out, fans, including myself, can finally begin to get excited about the much anticipated season in 2011-2012. With over 250 regular season games to be played, there will be many exciting games. We'll see high-powered offenses on showcase, we'll see hard-hitting defenders getting fined for hitting too hard, and we'll see nail-biting finishes while on the edge of our seats. With each day closer to finally closing the deal between the owners and the players and with the regular season under two months away, I become more and more eager to watch to the up-coming season. These are 5 of the more exciting games I see on the regular season schedule:

Week 1: Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens...

This match-up always tends to give viewers a good game. With two of the league's best defenses going head-to-head, you can count on a vicious, hard-hitting game from start to finish. These two teams often seem to meet one another in the playoffs and I can't see this year being any different. Consider this game a very early glimpse of what may come in this season's playoffs.

Week 3: Green Bay Packers @ Chicago Bears...

Both of these teams are from the NFC North division and not to mention this is a rematch of the NFC Championship game from last season in which the Packer defeated the Bears 21-14. With the defending Superbowl champion Green Bay Packers looking to defend their title and conquer the NFC North once again, this game early in the season should be a good indicator of success for both of these teams.

Week 5: New York Jets @ New England Patriots...

This AFC East rivalry gained some momentum last season after the Jets defeated the Patriots in week 3. However, in their next meeting, with Rex Ryan and company letting much of their talking happening before the game instead of on the field, the Patriots turned the tables with a 45-3 victory over the Jets in New England. To fuel the fire and ignite the rivalry even more, Wes Welker made some subtle, yet direct, statements regarding "feet" in a press conference in reference to Rex Ryan's foot fetish that shockingly leaked out into the internet. With the immense amount of hatred that grew after last season between these two organizations, you can bet that this much anticipated week 5 match-up will be more than worth your time. If you haven't seen the foot fetish video yet...

Week 7: Indianapolis Colts @ New Orleans Saints...

Both these teams have seen their "power-house" days. Many seem to think that the Indianapolis Colts are past those days and Peyton Manning is well past his prime. This season is a campaign for the Colts to prove the doubters wrong and this game is a prime opportunity for just that. A rematch of the Superbowl from two seasons ago, these two pro-bowl quarterbacks, Manning and Brees, and their respective high-flying offenses should give audiences what they like to see-points on the scoreboard. And, if anything like their recent Superbowl match-up, it could lead to a very exciting finish.

Week 12: New England Patriots @ Philadelphia Eagles...

In my opinion, this game might just top the list as the most exciting game in 2011-2012. New England Patriots in the AFC, Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC...Superbowl preview??? Eagles are an up-and-coming team with highly-touted Michael Vick and a good mixture of young and experienced talent. The Patriots are led by arguably the league's top quarterback and coach Bill Belichick whom have won three and four Super Bowls respectively. Add these components together and this could be one helluva game. In addition, this takes place towards the end of the season and could have other playoff implications.

Detroit Lions: Play-off Bound?

Yes, the Detroit Lions have been the laughing stock of the NFL for the past few years. For those living in Michigan, we have to be having a pretty awful day to be seen wearing a Lions jersey in public. The jerseys you do see in public are of players from over a decade ago (Barry Sanders) as we are not willing to spend our hard-earned money on buying a current jersey.

We're the first to support our team after a victory, although this happens only one or two times per year, and in recent years, hasn’t happened at all. We wear paper bags at games and our best player for the past 10 years has been our kicker. And, as the video puts it, metal detectors are strategically placed at the entrances into Ford Field so that we will not kill ourselves at halftime when the score is a humiliating 0-42.

It takes much courage, dedication, and optimism to be a Lions fan; however, things are beginning to look brighter in Detroit.Last year was extremely promising for any Lions fan. Yes, I know, a 6-10 record does not seem very promising, but if you happen to be rooting for the Lions, this is leaps and bounds from the previous two years as they built a remarkable two wins in two seasons. With things starting to look up in Detroit, and the NFL season not that far away, here are my top 5 reasons why the Lions are going to make the play-offs this coming season.

The Lions Did It With Shaun Hill & Drew Stanton

1. The Lions ended the year with an impressive four game winning streak, not to mention this was with their back-up quarterback. If the NFL does finally get their heads out of their asses and make a deal, expect this momentum to carry on and plow through the NFC North like a run-away train (or Ndamukong Suh can have the same effect). Included in this four game winning streak was the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. Sure, it was without Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers, but come on, give the Lions credit where credit is due.

2. Matthew Stafford: if he can stay healthy, and all signs point to him not being healthy again in 2011, the Lions could be a team to be reckoned with. Even his own teammate, linebacker Zach Follet, said he is a pussy. Follet stated in reference to Stafford, "He's a china doll right now. Anytime he gets hit, he goes down". However, when healthy, Stafford puts up some impressive numbers. Last season, though he only played in three games, had 6 TD's and 1 interception. One game that especially sticks out to me was against the feisty New York Jets defense when Stafford lit them up for 240 yards passing, 2 passing TD's, and 1 rushing TD (although risky, that's some high reward numbers for any fantasy football addict).

3. Lions draft picks have become better and better and their young talent makes the future look very promising. From Matthew Stafford, Jahvid Best, Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley, Louis Delmas, Mikel LeShoure, and Titus Young, these guys are talented enough to make any franchise realize that Detroit is back on the map in the NFL.

4. Whether it's Stafford or Hill taking the field next year, the talent, experience, size, and athleticism at the wide receiver position is enough to make an average quarterback a great one. Starting with Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, Brandon Pettigrew, and ending with rookie Titus Young, the Lions have multiple deadly weapons through the air. Let's just hope our "china doll of a quarterback" can stay healthy and put up the types of numbers he did when healthy last season. If he does, I believe the Lions wide receiver corps is on schedule for a huge break-out season.

5. The featured running back Jahvid Best and newcomer Mikel LeShoure are bound to make some noise this season. With very different styles to running the football-Best with his blazing speed (4.35 40-yard dash boasted the fastest time at last year's combine) and LeShoure with his "bruising, wear my opponent down" approach, the Lions have the personnel to compliment the passing game very nicely. Both backs are young giving Detroit a solid tandem to work with for several years down the road.

With these 5 aspects of the Lions taking the field in a few months, expect the Lions to have one of their better seasons in recent years. Take those paper bags off your heads, leave your guns at home, and don't be ashamed to spend some of your cash on a more recent Lions jersey-Detroit just might have a team worth rooting for this season.

Mikel Leshoure: What Can the Detroit Lions Expect from Rookie RB in 2011?

Along with all the selections the Lions made in the 2011 NFL Draft, the pick of Mikel Leshoure in the second round has captured the interest of the Lions faithful. Although the trade that allowed Detroit to pick him can be questioned, what he brings to the team is exactly what they need moving forward to complement Jahvid Best.

However, the question still remains as to whether he will produce big in his first season. Last year the Lions running backs struggled to run between the tackles because of the generally poor run blocking of the interior of the offensive line.This could bode badly for Leshoure, who will primarily be asked to pound the rock up the middle when he gets the ball. If the run blocking is bad and there are defenders in the backfield, it could be a disappointing and possibly injury-plagued rookie season for the Illinois alumni.

On the positive side, Leshoure has the frame to make plays without help from his blockers unlike the smaller and faster Best. He is 6'0" and 230 lbs, and carries his weight very well. He has powerful legs and a broad chest, and when he runs he has good bend which will go a long way to stopping serious injury concerns by forcing defenders to tackle his thick thighs or powerful shoulders.His running style and bulk should also help his smash through arm tackles and make plenty of yards after contact.

Leshoure also has surprising speed and quick feet that allow him to make the most of cut-back lanes and find the hole in the offensive line. This is likely to be very important given the struggles of the line last year. While not supremely agile, he can make defenders miss in space, or at least force arm tackles.

He was also a good receiver in college who has safe hands and can make decent yards after the catch on checkdown passes and especially screen plays. He does not rival Best in this regard, but is still solid. He also never fumbled the football for Illinois and will be a very safe running back to give the ball to when it is time to run down the clock.

Despite all the positives about his game, I think he will not produce great stats in his rookie season. Because most of his carries will be up the gut, the blocking is key, and if it does not improve he will have to break tackles just to get back to the line of scrimmage.For this reason, I think that our newest running back will run for 700 yards at an average of about 3.5 yards per carry. However, he will actually play very well, breaking tackles and making plenty of yards after first contact. Also, because he will be given the lion's share of goal line carries, he should also record about six rushing touchdowns.

In the receiving game, I expect him to perform better statistically. He looks able to record 25 receptions for 230 yards and two touchdowns with ease, and his ability to do this will make him a true every down running back. In fact, I would not be surprised if he became the featured running back in Detroit by week 10 of 2011, pushing Best to play a role similar to Reggie Bush as an x-factor running back, receiver and return man.

Although his rookie season may be a disappointment after the bar has been set so high for this young man, he should play very well, and be set for a 1,000-plus-yard explosion in his sophomore year when the Lions make significant strides in the running game. The future looks bright for Mikel Leshoure.

Chapter 1. – Road to the Cover

Think Printing Press, Nirvana, Michael Jordan, the Wright Brothers airplane, the Internet, Elvis, Google, Eastbound and Down, the Model-T, Cell Phones, etc. Once in a while something or someone comes along and without notice and without question from that day forward changes the scope of how things are normally done. The man I am going to write about is one of these people. Ill get back to this.First off, congratulations to Peyton Hillis for being selected to be the Madden 2012 Cover boy. This year EA let the fans vote for the rights to grace the cover by setting up a tournament almost identical to march madness that was hosted on ESPN Sports Nation. Seeding and everything. They picked the best players the NFL had to offer and matched them up head to head. Peyton won. Many say the win was fluky. They say he didn't deserve it and that EA missed the ball on this one. I say they didn't. Scratch that. They didn't. I'm saying they didn't because they ACTUALLY didn't.

Chapter 2. – The Brady Factor

All joking aside, Peyton Hillis undoubtedly the next big thing. The NFL now has a hybrid running back that is unlike any before him. Its funny what some people do with the hand that they are dealt. Sure...most people don't carry the rock and run with it like a gazelle, or score 6 like its going out of style. I personally don't posses the athletic ability to go go gadget leap over an NFL safety that's been electronically programmed to kill me. Also I'm also pretty sure you were not blessed with the same Burmese pythons he calls arms, but unlike most of the other elite athletes he's had to grind it out and figure it out just like you and me. At every level he had a fight on his hands. Not a single thing ever, EVER, came easy. It's not as if he wouldn't score 7 TDs and maybe throw for one too against your high school team once every year playing for your rivals. He would. He's naturally gifted to the point that he could dominate your shit game in and game out at the high school level without ever trying, but he's no Adrian Peterson. He does not have breakaway speed like Chris Johnson or Jahvid Best. He's no burner like Michael Turner. Truth is its hard to say what exactly makes him as good right now as he is. One conclusion that cannot be argued is that every accomplishment he owns has been paid for and earned with blood and sweat. Peyton Hillis is the guy that was faced with a 3 way fork in the road at some point in his career. He went right, but right didn't work. So he walked miles back to the fork and then went left. Shockingly enough left didn't work either. Peyton packed his lunch and went back to the fork in the road again. This time he walked to the center road in the fork. He's still walking on this road. It seems to be working. Most people in his spot would have quit. What did Peyton do? Same thing he has always done and will always do.


Just dropped his helmet and smoked those who doubted in the chin. He's still doing it. He just did it to win the cover of Madden 2012. He is not yet a popular household player, but I assure you he will be. Fighting back is what he wants to do and its what comes natural to him. That's what's special. Never give up. Never look back. Never go down. Never stop moving the pile. He faces adversity like he faces a tackle. Its just not going to happen.

Physically speaking Hillis is a god, but somehow at the University of Arkansas he was rarely given the ball and never given a chance. Subsequently Hillis found himself behind Darren McFadden and Felix Jones on the depth chart. The coaching staff saw he was too big and too white to be a running back yet too small to be a fullback. What they didn't know is that Peyton Hillis is special. He possess that funny little "it" factor that turns water into wine. I would bet that 9/10 student athletes would transfer if they had to play behind not 1 but 2 first round draft picks their entire college career. Again i reiterate that Hillis is special. He just kept running. Instead of whining he lifted. Instead of sulking he turned himself into a pass catching machine. He stayed the course.
Fast forward to t draft day 2008. Easily the biggest day of this young mans life. Its the day that pays the bills or crushes the dreams. Hillis proudly watched his teammates get selected #4 (McFadden) and #22 (Jones) thus guaranteeing themselves zillions of dollars and security for the rest of their lives. True to form nobody thought much of him and he watched 226 people get drafted ahead of him. His rookie contract paid a whopping 400k/year.

I get that Brady got selected in the late (6th) rounds too and i know he's a world champ but the reality of the matter is that Tom Brady has a laser rocket arm and could charm the pants off of...well anything. Tom Brady can get anyBODY to do anyTHING just but smiling and batting his lashes. Straight up. Any human being that's reading this (male or female) knows exactly what I'm saying and fully agrees with this fact. You are thinking, "Your right. No doubt. I would let Brady violate me, probably even right this second"...and you would. No shame. I don't want to like him either. Just cant not.
My point is that Tom Brady may have been drafted in the 6th round but if that day were played over and over again you would see the odds play out and you would see Brady drafted 2nd or 3rd round. He's perfect and perfect people have always been perfect. In Toms case people just flat out didn't know it yet. I'm shocked he didn't lock it up in the combine with some sort of "Jediesque" eye contact mind trick. That's what get football players like Tom Brady ahead. He went to what is supposed to be an elite program. He plays the most important position in football. He's gorgeous. He can cry on command....and generally has everything going for him in life that nobody else has.

Ok...I'm wandering, but Peyton Hillis is not Tom Brady. 3rd string white running backs that get picked 227 in the draft that have the charm of a wild beast do not make it in the NFL. Yet here we are.

Chapter 3. – It's Quinning Time: The Josh McDaniels Saga



This post is supposed to be about Peyton Hillis and I have faith that it will be, but for the time being lets talk about Josh McDaniels. Congratulations on your success with the Pats, Josh. Well done. I can imagine how difficult life must have been as a 28 year old offensive coordinator for the best offense the NFL may have ever seen . Don’t take the credit…there's no credit due to you here. Despite the cheating, and the pouting you were given the chance to replace a legend In Denver. You certainly appeared to be a “sure thing” and a cant miss hire.

I should just stop this rant right now because after a full 30 minutes of compiling creative ways to bash Josh McDaniels all I have to show is 1 paragraph and am not even relatively close to my point. I should recommend to you the readers and to myself that I should move more briskly through my thoughts and I should focus on the things I originally planned to say. So often in life it seems easy to get caught up in the moment. Right now I am caught up in the moment and I would like to thin that somehow this is going to tie back into Hillis, but for now it won't. I feel like riding McDaniels for a little bit longer. Its been one of those scenarios that with more research comes more interest and more awe in his overall demise. Maybe its easier to just review some highlights (or low lights). Why don't we give that a try.

• 2005-2006 – Unofficially (05) then then officially (06) gets promotion to offensive coordinator following the departure of Charlie Weiss to ND. (Stock: Up)
• 2007 – Patriots have perfect regular season and shatter NFL offensive records under McDaniels. (Stock: Up)

Keep in mind that the Spygate controversy occurred in 2006 the year before the 2007 perfect season, and McDaniels was not ever officially blamed or fined. That said…even I am having a hard time right now identifying a single blemish on his resume from 1999-2007. It seems almost perfect and parlayed with the fact he was hired by the Pats at age 23 and was offensive coordinator by age 28 it would be hard to say that this wasn’t one of the all time great “young”coaches in history. Then a funny little thing happened. The first quarter of the first regular season game in 2008 Josh McDaniels had to swallow his first dose of cold reality. Tom Brady went down with a leg injury that would sideline him for the entire year. I can not say with confidence that McDaniels will never amount to anything again in this league, but if he doesn’t…he probably has that day to blame. In one play, on blink of an eye, his professional career flashed before his eyes. No I am not talking about Brady…he's was going to be fine. Worst case scenario is that Tom still had 3 Super Bowls, a league MVP, 1 gazillion bucks, and Gisele Bundchen to fall back on. I am talking about the offensive coach. Lets take a look at what Josh has done since the injury.

The Fall

• 2007 – Member of coaching staff accused of cheating by filming opponents play calling from stands. (Stock: Down)
• 2009 – Immediately after being hired by Broncos begins feuding with Denver’s Pro Bowl QB Jay Cutler. Feud would eventually lead to Cutler’s departure from team. It was widely believed that McDaniels was targeting former player Matt Cassel, but when Cassel was traded to Kansas City McDaniels was only able to salvage career journeyman Kyle Orton in return. • 2009 - Responds to fans insistence that Peyton Hillis needs to see more playing time and more carries by giving Mr. Madden NFL 2012 a total of 13 carries the entire season. Denver openly searches for a "every down" running back. These numbers are way down from the 2008 rookie totals Peyton amassed that included 5 touchdowns on an average of 5.0 yards per carry. • 2009 - The Broncos finish the 2009 season with an 8-8 record, joining the 1978 Redskins and the 2003 Vikings as the only teams to miss the playoffs after a 6-0 start. (Stock: Down)
• 2010 - Despite McDaniels stating that he planned to expand Peyton Hillis’ role in the offense the popular
  
  running back with M1 Abrams for biceps was traded to Cleveland for Brady Quinn. Given that Hillis was unlikely to see an increase in opportunities in 2010 because Josh McDaniels Sucks. Trade is referred to as one of the most lopsided trades in professional sporting history. (Stock: Down)

• 2010 - Accused of his second video taping scandal. This time as a head coach. The NFL fines him big time. (Stock: Down)
• 2011 - Fired by the Denver Broncos front office after rumors of incompetency and turmoil with owners and players. (Stock: Down)
