Hoyas Start WWIII

Georgetown had to leave the court during the fourth quarter of its exhibition game against the Baiyi Rockets on Thursday night in Beijing after both benches emptied and a wild brawl erupted between the two teams. None of the Hoyas were seriously injured despite trading punches with the opposing players and having to dodge chairs thrown onto the court and water bottles hurled from the stands.

The best account of what led to the melee comes from the Washington Post's Gene Wang, apparently the lone U.S. reporter in attendance.

Wang wrote that the game was tense from the outset and had to be stopped earlier after two players exchanged words. At one point, a Rockets player even berated John Thompson III as the Georgetown coach yelled instructions to his players.

The hard fouls and constant bickering eventually devolved into bedlam when Bayi big man Hu Ke was called for a foul against Georgetown guard Jason Clark. The senior made it clear he did not appreciate the hard foul, sparking the initial exchange of shoves that led players from both benches to run onto the court in defense of their teammates.

Knight In Shining Armor

The Pistons just landed a gem.

This fall Brandon Knight, unanimously considered a top 3 pick, will take his talents to Auburn Hills. The Pistons passed on Kemba Walker and took Knight with pick #8. Steal. Brandon is just this years version of the John Calipari 1 and done. I mean lets look at Calipari's PG in the past 4 NBA drafts.

Derrick Rose. Tyreke Evans. John Wall. Brandon Knight. I have a real good feeling about this.

Still, it seems that every year...many NBA prospects in the NBA draft gives any team reason to be optimistic and eventually end up as busts (Dork-O), but there is no denying the raw talent Knight brings to the Pistons. He should immediatly slide into the starting PG position, thus moving Stuckey to SG.

With Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight the Pistons now have 2 budding stars in their lineup.
This marks the beginning of the Tom Gores era...and what a good start it has been. Let us hope for many more to come.

Kuester Fired: Dont Let the Door Hit You....Chump

In news that shouldn't surprise anyone, the Pistons have reportedly fired head coach John Kuester. With the franchise's sale to Tom Gores expected to become official this week, the team has decided to start the roster's rebuilding now.

With a lockout pending July 1, the Pistons have about a month to make as many moves as they can, the first of which being a coaching change. The team will also conduct its selection in the upcoming 2011 NBA Draft being held June 23. Reports have surfaced that Detroit could package its No. 8 first-round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers, who would also absorb the contract of Rip Hamilton via a trade exception.

Kuester is already being linked to the L.A. Lakers, who could hire him as an assistant under newly-named head coach Mike Brown. The Pistons, meanwhile, are believed to be interested in both Mike Woodson and Bill Laimbeer. Woodson and Kuester both served as assistants in Detroit under Larry Brown during the 2003-04 season. Laimbeer has no NBA head coaching experience but has served as an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves the past two years after coaching Detroit's former WNBA franchise, the Shock.

Rip Hamilton Is Rumored To Be On His Way Out....Again?

This time It's apparently in a 3 team MEGA DRAFT DAY DEAL for the ages.  Wait...I'm confused.  Isn't Rip always on his way out of Detroit or involved in some sort of trade rumor.  Let me answer that one.  Yes, he is.  I am less confident that this trade will go through than I am confident it will....or any trade for rip will ever go though.

It really is a double edged sword because sure he gets paid too much and is on the decline, but has everybody forgotten him as a/the KEY and i mean KKEEEEEYYYY part of a team that won me....and i guess the rest of the city...an NBA championship?

All this hype around the Heat and all the glitz and glamor of the NBA finals....well that was us year after year and in 2004 we took that shit down.  Personally...I think Rip deserves what ever Rip wants.  He won me a title....and for that I am forever indebted to him.  Just like I am to Ben, just like I am to Tayshaun, and just like I would still be to Rasheed if he were still hoopin professionally.  Chauncey is a whole different story.  He was the glue and the lone superstar on that squad.  We owe him more than the others....but I still hold onto hope that ill see #1 suit up in red white and blue again.

Is This Kid the Next Lebron?

Is this "phenom" the next basketball superstar whose ego we will feed until he's equidistant from reality as the Earth is to the Sun? Is this a 2016 top draft pick that Joe Dumars surpasses for a European human victory cigar? The answer to the first question is no; and to the latter is, well, possibly. Sorry scouts but I just don't see anything outstanding from this kid. Congratulations son, you're 6'8" and you can block shots on an 8th grader shorter than I am. On the upside, this kid is only in 8th grade and hes super tall already. On the downside; I've seen him topple over a few times, pull an offensive goal tend and hes got a weird lookin mouth. Where's the cutoff point of calling kids "phenoms?" Rivals.com ran a story last week: "Newborn Phenom already 37 inches long. Recruited by Duke, UNC." It's getting a little absurd if you ask me. Make these kids play some serious ball before you dub them "phenoms" or "the next Lebron." Tryin' to get a muthafuckin scholarship!? No free lunches lad. Blue chips only at Wild Steve U.
