Awesome Dude Saves Beer, Lives

Mitch Davie, center right, of Brooklyn, N.Y., makes a one-handed catch of a flying bat off the swing of Atlanta Braves second baseman Dan Uggla, not pictured, during the fifth inning of a spring-training baseball game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday, March 4, 2011 in Kissimmee, Fla.

Now that, my friends, is fucking awesome. Just like Wild Steve once branded me for allowing him a swipe of my deodorant on what would have been a very smelly summer afternoon, this man deserves the title of Teddy Brosevelt. This is what being a bro, in DTownBroCo's terms, is all about. Being a good dude towards other dudes and preserving the finer things in life (beer) all in one stride.

This amazing picture strikes a memory that I'd like to share. Last year, like every year, I bought my dad Tigers tickets for Father's Day. I think it's an awesome gift because you get an excuse to spend the money to go to a game, and you're giving the same fate to your father at the same time. The game we went to was against the Indians and we sat near 3rd base. During the span of this game, I caught two foul balls. I know, you're probably thinking to yourself "This guy is a prick, all I want is just one, ONE foul ball and he gets two??". Well, I was once in that same boat. Then I was given not one but two oars to stroke to Foul Ball Island. Since going to the game was a gift to my dad, I gave him the ball each time. When I gave him the second foul ball I got, he raised both of them in the air as far as he could reach, yelling, with as much joy I've ever seen him have. It was amazing. Minutes later a little girl and boy came up asking if they could have one of the balls. My dad politely said "I don't think so" and turned to look at me smiling from ear to ear. My dad is the man.
