Undergrad pushed, punched girlfriend: NUS student Brandon Tee Zhi Yi, punched and kicked Miss Ju Benhua, a Hong Kong University student, when he was in Hong Kong for a student exchange programme.

In August last year, 24-year-old Brandon Tee Zhi Yi fell in love with student Ju Benhua, reported Hong Kong newspaper Oriental Daily. Tee is a law student at the National University of Singapore, while Miss Ju studies at Hong Kong University. The two became a couple one month later. In June this year, however, their relationship soured.

The Hong Kong court heard that Miss Ju agreed to visit Tee's apartment because he appeared to be emotionally low and unable to deal with the break-up. Shortly after arriving, however, the two became embroiled in a vicious argument, which later led to a physical struggle. Tee allegedly pushed Miss Ju against the wall and flung her onto the bed. In addition to punching and kicking her, he also threatened her by pointing a bottle opener close to her eye and scraping it against her body.
