James Bond's gadget-filled Aston Martin sold: The Aston Martin DB which was featured in the 60s Bond classics "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball", has been sold for $4m during a London auction.

James Bond never could resist sleek curves and a good-looking rear view, especially when the owner is armed with lethal gadgets and a taste for speed -- like the Aston Martin DB5.

The one-of-a-kind 1964 silver sports car with special 007 modifications became the quintessential Bond car when Sean Connery got behind the wheel in 60s Bond classics "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball."

Now, the classic has been snapped up at a London auction for $4 million. It was not immediately clear who bought the DB5.

The DB5 comes complete with all the original 007 specifications fitted to it by the Aston Martin factory for 1965's "Thunderball." They include front machine guns that shoot blanks, an ejector seat (that doesn't work), radar navigation, a nail spreader, tire shredders, bullet shield and a revolving number plate.

The DB5 has only had one private owner, U.S. radio station owner and philanthropist Jerry Lee. He bought it straight from the Aston Martin factory in 1969 for $12,000. The self-confessed "huge" Bond fan says he's kept the car at home in Pennsylvania in his "James Bond room" for the past 41 years.

Despite being close to half a century old, the DB5 only has 30,000 miles on the clock. Lee told CNN he has only driven the car once: "I drove it for two blocks in London. I think it's a work of art," he said. "It's just pure beauty."

(5) Dr Amy KHOR will be promoted to Minister of State (Ministry of Environment and Water Resources).

(6) Mr MASAGOS Zulkifli will be promoted to Minister of State (Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Home Affairs).

(7) Mr Sam TAN Chin Siong will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of Trade and Industry).

(8) Dr MOHAMAD Maliki Bin Osman will be promoted to Senior Parliamentary Secretary (Ministry of National Development).

Naked hairdressers offer Hotcuts with topless trims: Wojtek Wasilewski has opened a hair salon in Australia with hairdressers who are not only hot, but they are topless.

The idea for Hotcuts came from Polish-born owner Wojtek Wasilewski, 26. But it took him 18 months to find four girls, hairdressers, who were willing to go semi naked as they brandished their scissors.

Wojtek said,

I wanted to make the salon like a gentlemen's club. Business is booming. The phone has been ringing off the hook. I'm not surprised. They are stunning girls.

A member of Taiwan's pop group S.H.E sustained burns during the shooting of an explosion scene for a TV drama series in China, reports said yesterday. Selina Ren suffered third-degree burns to her back, hands and legs in the accident that took place on Friday, and was admitted to a hospital in Shanghai, the reports said. Her agent was cited as saying her family is discussing with the hospital over arrangements to fly her back to Taiwan for the skin transplant operations. No problems were found during several tests of the explosives before the actual shooting, said the reports. But the explosives went off earlier than the set time when the actual filming started. Ren was filming in Shanghai alone without Hebe Tien and Ella Chen, her partners in the popular group.

Mrs Lee Kuan Yew dies at age 89: Madam Kwa Geok Choo has died. She was 89. Mrs Lee is survived by her husband Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, sons Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Lee Hsien Yang, and daughter Lee Wei Ling.

The wake will be held at Sri Temasek, the official residence of the Prime Minister located within the Istana grounds, from October 4-5. A private funeral will take place on October 6 at Mandai Crematorium.

Madam Kwa Geok Choo - the wife of Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, and mother of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has died on Saturday.

Mrs Lee Kuan Yew, age 89, passed away peacefully at home at 5.40 pm.

A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said the wake is held at Sri Temasek, official residence of the Prime Minister located within the Istana grounds, from October 4-5.

Visitors who wish to pay their last respects may do so on October 4-5 from 10am to 5pm.

Members of the public may call 6835 6614 for any queries.

A private funeral will take place on October 6 at Mandai Crematorium.

The family requests that no obituaries and no wreaths or flowers to be sent.

All donations will go to the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) Health Research Endowment Fund.

Madam Kwa was one of 8 children.

'Always full of joy': Miss Tan Mingwei, a A*Star scholar studying in Cambridge University, was killed in a hit-and-run accident in North London. A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

MISS Tan Mingwei, 20, the Singaporean medical student killed in a hit-and-run accident in North London on Thursday, was a high-flying undergraduate at Cambridge University who was 'always full of joy', said British media reports.

Miss Tan was due to start her third year at the university's Peterhouse College, where she was studying medical science. She was dragged for almost 2km after being struck outside the Royal Free Hospital in Pond Street, Hampstead.

A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Miss Tan was also the president of Cambridge University's karate club. The Camden New Journal reported that in her application to become the club's president, Miss Tan said: 'I'm keen! Better than just attending them, I enjoy trainings and socials enough to want to have a hand in organising them.'
