On 11th August, 40 people gathered along Singapore River for a leisurely run. However, this run (which is called The Pink Run) was a social event for gays and lesbians in Singapore.
The police knew about the event and arrived at the scene. They told the organiser that the run was an illegal assembly and that it was against the law, citing the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
Well in Singapore, a law is a law. At least in this incident, the authorities showed some flexibility and allowed the group to run in smaller groups. -
