of a christmas carol advertorial

A Christmas Carol Advertorial.

I was given a chance to catch "A Christmas Carol", the movie adaptation of Charles Dickens' book of the same title.

The story is about the miserable Ebenezer Scrooge who does not believe in Christmas and he gets visited by three Christmas spirits who shows him the spirit of Christmas. This Disney movie stars Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, Bob Hoskins, Colin Firth and more.

Most of the casts were required to take on different roles. For example, Jim Carrey takes on four different roles, playing Ebenezer Scrooge and each of the three Ghosts of Christmas.

Another version of "A Christmas Carol", you may ask?

Well no, this is not just another version of A Christmas Carol. Director Robert Zemeckis has brought Charles Dickens' characters to life in the animation way. Like what he did in Polar Express, Zemeckis had the casts act out their parts and their movements were then digitized and animated.

In this movie, the CGI animation was almost life-like and visually good. The effects were also creative, like the scene where Scrooge was being shot up into the sky. So when there are visual effects during the movie, expect something magical.

Story wise, little has deviated from Charles Dickens' classic novel, except for a touch of Zemeckis here and there.

The casts also acted their roles well. With Jim Carrey, one would expect some funny injects.

The movie will make a good holiday movie that is entertaining for adults and Zemeckis has done a good job, taking movie filming to a whole new level.

Thank you to Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Singapore and Nuffnang for the movie.

One another note: A game has also been released on Facebook called Scrooge 'O' Meter. All you have to do generate a gift (let the application generate one, you just click and shake leg) then send it to a recipient. Once the gift is accepted, you gain points. If the gift is rejected, you lose points (ah beh then).

The challenge is to 'unscrooge' yourself during this Christmas season. How do you do this? Easy, just send gifts to your family and friends. You'll gain and lose points along the way. Keep on giving and over time, your status will change for the better.

But beware, friends with higher points than you will be more reluctant to accept gifts!

Be sure to invite all your family and friends as you'll gain extra points for each new recruit - Good luck!!!

Girl, 10, tasered by police with mother's permission: Officer Dustin Bradshaw used a stun gun on a 10-year-old girl after he said her mother gave him permission to do so. In his report, Officer Bradshaw said that police was called to the home in Ozark, Arkansas, because the girl was "violently kicking and verbally combative" any time her mother tried to get her in the shower before bed.
Officer Dustin Bradshaw said in a report that police were called to the home in Ozark, Arkansas on 11 November because of a domestic disturbance.

When he arrived, the girl was curled up on the floor, screaming, the report said.

Mr Bradshaw's report said the girl screamed, kicked and resisted any time her mother tried to get her in the shower before bed. "Her mother told me to tase her if I needed to," he wrote.

The child was "violently kicking and verbally combative" when Mr Bradshaw tried to take her into custody and she kicked him in the groin. He delivered "a very brief drive stun to her back," the report said.

The names of the girl and her mother were redacted in the report.

Mayor Vernon McDaniel said the girl wasn't injured and is now at the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil.
Anthony Medlock, the girl's father who is divorced from the girl's mother and does not have custody, told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette,
My daughter does not deserve to be tased and be treated like an animal.

of russian flying fortresses

Russian Flying Fortresses: Russian history lovers have reconstructed a huge Russian plane based on plans left in once to top-secret Russian army archives.
In 1930s Russian army was … by the idea of creating huge planes. At that times they were proposed to have as much propellers as possible to help carrying those huge flying fortresses into the air, jet propulsion has not been implemented at those times yet.

Not much photos were saved since that times, because of the high secrecy levels of such projects and because a lot of time passed already. Still on the photo below you can see one of such planes - a heavy bomber K-7.

Anaheim Ducks Fans Fight For Scott Niedermayer's Hockey Stick (VIDEO): Anaheim Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer intended to give his hockey stick to a girl in the crowd. But things turned ugly. The fans turned aggressive as spectators began punching one another to get the hockey stick.
After scoring a game-winning goal in overtime against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, Anaheim Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer skated towards some fans and tried to give his stick to a girl in the stands. He may have overestimated the home crowd, however, as his gesture was met by a swarm of aggressive fans fighting for the stick. Within seconds spectators began punching each other in a furious effort to claim the souvenir. In an interview afterward, Niedermayer said the stick was "for a little girl," which did not seem to stop bystanders from battling for it.
