of olympics rings

Flip through today's Straits Times that shows the Olympics exhibition.

Unfortunately I can't upload images to my Flickr site due to some technical problems with my computer. Will post it when I get home.

The Olympics rings are bloken.

Shouldn't it be 3 rings on top and 2 rings below [insert image later]?

Flip the picture around and see it in the other perspective [insert image later].

IOC OIC! But then shouldn't it be Red, Green, Black, Yellow and then Blue [insert image later], unless I corourblind?

After reading Shelly's post, I didn't know what to do with it. So I consulted Cowboy Caleb. Then he emailed and said "Let us both plug her." After reading his email, I still don't know what to do.

So what to do huh? Plug her? Orh link her is it? My engerrish not powder enough.

Shelly said:
I realise that there's been a recent hoo-ha on SPG's posting of her nude photos online and I'm not trying to follow in her foodsteps. All I can say is, if you've got it, flaunt it. of good husband quiz

[via Christine]

Christine did a Are You A Good Girlfriend? quiz. So I thought I search the internet for a "Are You A Good Husband?" quiz.

It turns out there are not many around. But there are tons of "Are You A Good Wife/Girlfriend/Boyfriend/Friend" quizzes.

I tried searching using the following sentences.
- "Are You A Faithful Husband?"
- "Are You A Honest Husband?"
- "Are You A Bad Husband?"
- "Are You A Terrible Husband?"
- "Are You A Boh Chap Husband?"
- "Are You A Idiotic Husband?"
- "Are You A Stupid Husband?"
- "Are You A Ya Ya Papaya Husband?"

After a while, I gave up searching. I ended up doing this one and only Are You A Good Husband? quiz and concluded that there are no good husbands around.

Other quizzes:
- Are You A Good Boyfriend?
- Are You A Good Wife?
- Are You A Good Friend?

of nosuchunit 2

I just received a letter from my NS unit to inform me that I will be able to do many of my NS adminstration on-line via My MIW.

The letter reads "NS admin excellence - 'One Point, One Touch, One Source'".

Since I mentioned of MyUnit in my previous post, I was expecting that the MyUnit feature would be up and ready. However after logging in, I still got 'nosuchunit'. (I also noticed that my name has disappeared after the greeting). Some more encountered some Maintenance Notice thingy.

'One Point, One Touch, No Source, No Info' ah!

A booklet was also attached to the letter to describe the various NS administration that can be done online. Straydog Scraps has taken a photo of the last page of the booklet as shown below. This is SAF acting cute. You can also see the photo at tomorrow.sg

In the Straits Times today:

of what I might blog about

[Adapted from Jayelle's "What I Might Blog About: At Age 35"]

"What I Might Blog About: 20 Years Down The Road"

Lancerlad has gone out...somewhere. Lancerlady just called his 9G Sorny-Elickson-Nokar-Motolola handphone. Via the video stream, it seemed like he was outside some pub. Must be out drinking with his buddies again.

Lancerkid just called from his camp. He's been transferred to some Combat Environment Simulation Center. He says his training does not involve going otudoors. Everything is simulated indoors at the center. From IPPT, SOC, rifle range to brigade exercises. Technology these days.

Lancergal is hogging daddy's notebook again. Blogging as usual. She is feeling down lately since her relationship ended with Ah Gu. Poor gal. How to console her. Daddy where got girlfriend at your age.

Lancerdude is playing his ZBox for hours now. At this rate, his eyesight is going to get worse.

Tomorrow.sg has begun to call for volunteers for Blogger.SG 2025. This annual event, in its 20th running, will be held in July and this year's catchphrase is "Lai, lai. Don't shy!". The event is expected to attract bloggers from international and local scene. They'll be flocking to Singapore Expo Halls 1 to 10 for the inaugural event.

Moonhub's Premeir Channel is so cool. Now we don't need to go to the movies, can watch live premier at home. We were lucky to be chosen by Moonhub for its trial. Starhub, Moonhub's parent company, says that they will invite more subscribers to the try out this new channel soon.

"Batman Ends" was really good! Lancerlass, Lancerlady and I have just finished watching the live premier of the latest and final Batman movie over the Premier Channel. The way Batman transformed into Superman at the end of the show really caught us by surprise..oops a little bit of spoiler here. So could we see a "Superman Begins" soon?

Lately I am thinking of blogicide. I've been thinking about it for a long time already, I can't imagine what got me started in 2004. 2004! That's a long way back. Can't imagine a 50-year old Ah Pek blogging. Still thinking...still pondering

of the umbrella stabber

I was nearly 'stabbed' by a man carrying an umbrella just now. It wasn't raining so he was holding his folded umbrella in one hand. He came from behind and walked in front of me, swinging his arms back and forth. Lucky I was fast to avoid his swinging umbrella.

I also had previous close encounters like walking up the stairs and nearly kena stabbed incident.

So far all my encounters are with guys. I guess that's the manly way of carrying umbrellas.

Overheard at a coffeeshop. 2 persons (Ah Su and Ah Ku) giving directions to another person (Ah Blur) over the mobile phone.

Ah Su: How to get from ABC Road to XYZ Road?
Ah Ku: You come down from ABC Road, XYZ Road is on the left.

Ah Ku calls Ah Blur on his mobile phone.
"You come down from ABC Road, XYZ Road is on your left. Where are you now? You see it or not?"

From what I know, ABC Road to XYZ Road is about 2-3km. Along ABC Road, there's a Y-junction and plenty of roads to turn into smaller roads.

I wasn't surprised to hear Ah Ku giving directions to Ah Blur for about 15-20 minutes. Ah Su frequently interrupting Ah Ku saying "XYZ Road on the leftside".

Some people oversimplify things. Not sure where Ah Blur ended up.

of human beatbox

Human Beatboxing is a fascinating vocal artform which involves the rapid and precise manipulation of the vocal organs to emulate the beats and rhythms of a drum machine.

Check out homegrown beatboxer, Dharni. Listen to some of his beatbox sample beats.

Also check out Malaysia's Hyperkinetix. See their latest video clip.

Other cool Human Beatbox (HBB) links/videos:
- Yuri Lane. Most you must have seen his harmonica cum beatbox stunt. In this video, he says HBB is all about breath control.
- Another excellent example of HBB. This is also a popular video.
- 1st Annual BoxCon 2003 video. (BoxCon = Human Beatbox Convention)
- BoxCon 2004 DVD trailer.
- Eklips, French beatboxer (I think)
- Make Some Noise (MSN) 2005 Beatbox Battle videos. Also see the forum thread.
- Killa Kela's Video Compilation, UK beatboxer.

Update: Another cool link. Thanks, Bohemian Philosophy.

of cab rental and ns ration

2 articles in the papers today. One on cab rentals and the other on NS food ration.

Article 1: More cabbies failing to pay rental

"Rising numbers of cabs, few users mean many can't make ends meet. The drivers pay a daily rental of about $90, on top of about $40 a day for diesel and other outlays on things like carparks and car washes."

Is there a chance to reduce the cab rentals? Well that's what I hope for because that's what I always hear the drivers complained. Rental so high, cannot make it!. And do the cabbies still pay rental for the satellite equipment thingy at the dashboard? In the past, they had to pay some form of charge to use them. Not sure about now.

Article 2: Oreos, soldier? Familiar brands may join ranks of troop rations

"TROOPS in some army units and the Officer Cadet School are trying Uncle Toby's cereal bars, Kellogg's Frosties cereal and Oreo biscuits as field rations."

I wish we'll get this soon in our ration.

of singapore family tree

I was just checking out Singapore Family Tree.
Singaporeans can create and build their own family trees when they sign up for a free trial at Singapore’s national family tree portal. Spearheaded by the National Heritage Board (NHB), the Singapore Family Tree (SFT) is a one-stop portal that enables Singaporeans to document personal and family histories, build their family trees, and share family values – all in the comfort of their own homes. By embarking on this journey, Singaporeans can strengthen family unity across generations – as described by SFT’s tagline 'Building Trees, Connecting Generations'.
Read the media release by NHB.

To encourage the public to sign up at the new portal, NHB will be launching the "Largest Family Tree" Competition. Start building your family tree from 29 May to 30 June to win attractive prizes.

I played around with it and created a simple 3-gen family tree.

However NHB has given me 1 year to "build trees and connect generations". My free account expires in 365 days. So this is their effort to strenthen family unity across generations.
